I thought that this was a really wonderful read. This Tarzan retelling had a very fresh feeling to it and I thought that was a big plus. I think it is always risky when an author modernizes/re-imagines a story that is well known. It is a challenge that doesn't always end successfully, but I am very pleased to say that this author pulled it off and in fact did an excellent job of it. Thorne and Eden's story uses the bare bones of the original and then builds on it to create a beautiful love story about the characters, the animals and Africa as a whole. As far as the romance goes, there is very little heat here because the main focus is on the characters emotions and the pure sweetness of them finding each other. The romantic side of this story is well paired with an engaging, exciting and powerful tale that is filled with adventure, action, heartache, drama and danger. Very enjoyable and quite beautiful! This is my objective, elective review.
